How VIP status works
VIP status is one of the rarest cosmetic account statuses in Rayman Legends. It is not a normal progression reward: players cannot buy it, unlock it by completing the game, or earn it automatically by grinding Diamond Cups or reaching a particular leaderboard position.
The status has historically required a member of the Rayman Legends development team to grant it manually to an account.
What VIP status gives you
| VIP badge | An exclusive icon displayed beside the player's name on supported leaderboards. |
|---|---|
| Custom name color | A distinct colored nametag that makes the account visually identifiable on leaderboards. |
| Champion Ray | VIP status unlocks the Champion Ray character skin. On Nintendo Switch, Champion Ray can also be accessed by regular players, but the VIP badge and name color still require actual VIP status. |
Which versions support VIP status?
VIP functionality is present on the eighth-generation console releases: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The feature is not supported by the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions.
How players originally received it
Early community giveaways
Near the game's launch period, a small number of community giveaways and Facebook contests offered VIP status as a prize. These promotions were obscure enough that VIP accounts remained extremely uncommon for years.
The competitive-community wave
Much later, a developer began interacting directly with the competitive Rayman Legends community and manually awarded VIP status to small groups of high-level Challenge, Invasion and speedrun players.
Because many of the recipients already occupied the top of the leaderboards, this created a persistent myth that high leaderboard placement itself unlocks VIP status. It does not. The correlation came from developers choosing notable competitive players, not from an automatic ranking threshold.
Can you still get VIP status today?
For a normal player, effectively no. There is no known in-game route that awards it, and new badges are not being issued through an active public process. The only realistic way for that to change would be for an active developer to resume manually granting the status.
Community estimates place the total number of VIP accounts at roughly 70 to 110, although that is not an official Ubisoft count.
Whether VIP status will return in Rayman Legends Retold is currently unconfirmed. There is also no confirmed account-transfer system for carrying the original status into Retold.
